June as usual started off LOVELY with my birthday - less then 52 weeks until the big 3-0 now (is it sad that I'm excited to be thirty?) Darren made me a lovely dinner (Filet Mignon with Rice Pilaf) and a delicious cake (Devil's food with a raspberry filling, cream cheese frosting and coconut flakes.) We had a few close friends over for cake and ice cream and realized that get together's with friends now involve a lot of children (7 so far (3 born since the start of 2009 and still one more due). It was a great day in spite of my exhaustion.
The weekend after my birthday Darren's mom came up to meet Abigail and play with Devon. We had a fun weekend and I got some much needed extra sleep. Thanks Hope & Rick!
June 8 marked Darren's return to full-time work. I really love that he can spread his 2 weeks of paternity leave into 4 weeks by doing half-time but it was very hard to let him go back to full-time. Devon especially hated the adjustment as he had been enjoying getting to play with dad all afternoon everyday and mom is usually busy with Abigail or to tired and doesn't do well at playing with him yet - I just don't have that kind of energy. If I could bottle his energy and sell it I'd be the richest person on the earth ever.
On the 10th some good friends in my church ward had a Welcome Baby party. IT was a lot of fun to get to take Abigail out and show her off a bit and get some much need girl time. Abi got some great clothes too. What a great time, I really need to find a way to have more girl parties.
The rest of the month was filled with the same long nights and days. Abi started holding her head up more and more (although she HATES tummy time), started smiling (for Dad's eyes only), and Devon was in constant Abigail adoration mode which unfortunately involves a lot of rule breaking because he is 3 and still hasn't learned that you look with your eyes not your hands. We ventured out to church for the first time. Darren celebrated his 1st Father's day as a father of 2, we stressed about our trip to California in July (another post), and Darren finished the Tack Trunk he was working on.
All in all I think June was a good month at least as much as I can remember of it. :) And to all you women out there with 2 or more kids "How in the world do you do it?" "Please tell me it gets easier."

I've got 2+, and yes, it does get easier, at least in the small kid stuff; haven't got one over four yet, though so I can't tell you after that. :) Kids having other kids on hand to play with has been a big help around here. And, the older ones even occasionally like to help with diaper duty. Anyway, though, happy birthday (a bit late), and for what it's worth Curtis didn't care for the rota virus vaccine either. :)
