Christmas Projects...

So now that all my gifts have been given I can finally post pictures of the projects I spent much of November & December working on (at least my sewing projects, don't think I'll get the family calendar up anytime soon.)

So my first set of projects was a Mother/Daughter set of aprons for our good friends Lauren Mauery & her daughter Nicole. I was very excited when I saw this pattern at and new it would be a fun gift for our friends. So I set to work and came out with these:

I really enjoyed making them and learned several new things along the way, the biggest one being I really need a better sewing machine with better speed control. That tiny 1/8" hemming stitching on all the trim is hard to do when your machine seems to go snail speed and cheetah speed with no nice moderate in-between.

Since I was already in an apron making mood and wanted to make a few more of this apron I decide to make one for my mom & one for my sister Teala, (& since I found really cute material I ended up making one for myself as well.) I really enjoy this pattern as it is really simple and you just do the same steps twice (once for each side). I love the reversible apron & and have been toying with the idea of seeing if I can turn the bottom half of the apron into a skirt because I love the lines. So here it is (remember I made 3 identical ones):

Had so much fun. I am definitely going to have to find a way to keep sewing once the baby arrives.

Also I have had requests to see my completed projects (since that is what started the move to blogger in the first place) so here is a link to my Picasa Project album.

(Note that is has pictures of anything that I consider a bit crafty for me so it is a hodgepodge of cooking, sewing, scrapbooking, card making, etc. and I add to it periodically - although I'll tyr and post when I add to it.) Enjoy!

LoL :) I couldn't help but laugh when I read about your sewing machine and the slow to fast pace! Mine does the same thing!!!! It drives me crazy, not only that but my tension is broken and refuses to stay at the right tension, so I am constantly unpicking! Needless to say I have not sewn in a while to save myself the headaches. Some day I will get a NICE sewing machine. Now I just dream about it :)
