Crazy times..
End of Sept and all of Oct have been crazy times here in the Hart household. Darren got Devon's play structure up just in time as he started a week long Tech conference her in Portland and then Headed to Germany for another week of conferences. Luckily the 2nd week my sister came up to visit, love on her newest niece and help me with my crazy little Devon. It was a fun week and she finally got to see the sun shine in Portland (although we didn't make it to the beach before the rains started - next time Teala). Devon was sad to see Aunt Teala leave and really thought she should just sleep on the air mattress and live at our house (he asked me and her several times.) Abi loved that she had almost constant attention and that Teala snuggled her to sleep. It was lots of fun - and I'm still waiting for copies of the pictures Teala. :)
Once Darren got back he had a 4 day work week and then we flew down to California. Darren had an interview with Google and so we took the time to also make a visit to his mom's house. Devon loved getting to spend lots of one-on-one time with Grandma Hope and getting to go to the beach. It was a quick weekend but fun and the kids even traveled well.
Once back it was back to Normal life for us for a little while. We had our Primary program at church and Devon did really well. It was quite funny though as he ad libbed his part - He had it memorized and had said it perfectly several times but when it came his turn he didn't say his part at all. They were supposed to be answering the question "How can I prepare to go to the Temple" and he had "Be baptized and be happy." done perfectly but when he got the mic I heard "We can go to church" (said in his very loud fast Devon voice) it was quite cute. That Sunday the Stake presidency also issued a request that sick members stay home until 24 hours after they are recovered, that we not use the drinking fountains, and to use hand sanitizers often (bottles set out around the building). Apparently there have been several cases of H1N1 flu in Oregon (and deaths) so we decided to be more diligent hoping to not catch it. We made it a whole day.
The next evening (Monday) Devon started running a fever. Ran a temp of 101 to 102 for about 3 days then was tired and achy for several more days. He was down for almost 2 weeks and what a long 2 weeks it has been. Abi also seemed to get it but much milder then Devon. Darren got it last just as Devon was getting better and he seems to be on final recuperation now. Somehow I made it through without getting sick. I'm exhausted but I don't think I ever got sick thank goodness. But it has been a crazy time here in the Hart household. Although I'm beginning to think our life is always going to be "crazy" in some way or other for a while now - kids, and all the responsibilities that go along with them, just seem to make life crazy. But we love it.
