Spring is Here.....

From March 2009
Yay! This is what my front yard looks like right now. Devon loves the Daffodils and has been learning all the names of the flowers around our neighborhood, if you come and visit he'll show them all to you. He is especially excited about Spring because I've been telling him baby sister will be coming sometime in Spring (only 6 weeks to here due date) and he is ready for her to come out and play - at least he thinks he is!

This is the nursery...mostly ready for baby sister. Still missing a couple things but I am glad to know that if I went in to labor tonight we'd have all the important things taken care of.

Also have to add a picture of our final paint job and new clock. It is so nice to have all the paint done and we LOVE the new color. Also a shot of the fireplace in the front room LOVE having it not be white and dingy anymore. It looks like we live in a house now instead of a construction site.

And I have to put this last photo on just because I think my boys are so cute.....and I love them.

Happy Birthday to my Man!

From March 2009

Okay this post is a week late, luckily Darren is very understanding. For those who don't know he was born on St.Paddy's day and after years of Corn Beef and Cabbage and all green birthday's he is very anti-St.Paddy's day.

We started celebrations early on Sunday and had a nice dinner and Fudge cake with Chocolate chip frosting with chocolate ice cream for dessert with our friends. For those wondering the birthday candles represent Darren's age in Binary (thanks Vernon for the idea).

Monday the last of Darren's presents arrived and Mommy and Devon convinced him it was okay if he opened them a day early. Unfortunately one of them was wrong and we are still waiting to get it fixed (oh well). He got the new Prince of Persia game and (what was supposed to be) a Dualshock 3 controller for his PS3. You can always tell when he's been working to hard, Mom starts encouraging him to play video games, unfortunately he hasn't been able to play much since the controller we got was the wrong one and has to be exchanged.

Tuesday he got up and forgot it was his birthday and dressed in green - which I have never seen him do in the 10 years I've known him. (I still think part of the reason he married me was that first birthday he celebrated while dating me I brought him a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting while all his other friends teased him with green cakes!) ;) Devon went to Playclass that day and told anyone and everyone that is was his Daddy's birthday and refused to make a Green Leprechaun hat. Then Devon and I made him birthday cards and got him some Reese Peanut Butter cups (his favorite) for when he got home form work that evening. That night we went to dinner at Me Too! where we were able to enjoy some nice adult conversation while Devon played, plus we got a discount on the child care because Darren had worn green. (I wore black & pink and Devon was in tan.)

All in all it was a great celebration and we enjoyed getting to celebrate Darren's special day!
He is a great Husband and Dad and I always feel extremely blessed to have him in my life. He is always willing to help out with Devon, constantly encouraging me to try new things, always learning new things, and always strives to do his best. Love you Man!

Too Much Pink....

So as Baby sister's due date comes closer I have finally ventured online to begin looking at baby clothings. I admit to being fairly unexcited about shopping for girls clothes, mostly because most of what I've seen is Pink & more PINK with lots of ruffles, etc. Anyone who knows me knows I am a bit girly but not at all into pink. Now PURPLE on the other hand, I don't think its possible to have enough purple in my life. For example Baby Sister's bedding Katie Nursery is Fabulous and if I could get it for my bed I just might (don't think Darren would let me though.) But I lost on the painting her walls purple and instead they are a complimentary green - which I LOVE and I think will be very soothing.

Anyway I digress back to baby clothes, if most of the outfits out there were purple Darren would have to hide all my credit cards so lucky for him and our bank account most of them are pink but still the baby needs clothes. Luckily my SIL Robin has very kindly been sending us all there recently used baby girl clothes, lots of pink but I didn't buy it so I don't feel so bad. Today though I went looking for cute baby girl clothes I would actually buy and it was an interesting hunt.

Now I must admit that up to this point other then Carter's and Osh Kosh B' Gosh all of Devon's clothes have come from Target or Old Navy and quite honestly I love shopping for him simply because it is easy. Few pairs of jeans (or shorts) and lots of t-shirts, absolutely nothing easier then shopping for a boy. So venturing into the world of little girl clothing is a bit daunting.

I had fairly bad luck at Old Navy (although they do have purple bodysuits and 1 cute white cardigan that I will be buying) but mostly I was unimpressed. I checked out Gymboree and found 2 cute dresses I liked: Crocheted Dress and Crochet Garden Top but at $30 plus dollars I'm not sure I could convince myself to buy them, especially since I know she won't wear them for long.

And then I ventured to The Children's Place and found this:
ring around the rosie. So, so cute in my opinion. I actually found several things in their Spring Blooms, Sunny Fancy Faves, and Classic Fancy Faves collections that I like. Their prices are more do-able but still how often would she really wear something like that.

So now I am requesting advice (especially from friends with little girls.) Where do you shop for cute but not break you pocket book clothes for girls? Do you buy lots of cute outfits or just a few for special occasions? Any suggestions, advice is welcome.

30 weeks and counting...

From February 2009

Okay so here is the shot of me at 30 weeks, looking very small next to my friend Patty who is 36 (or 37) weeks along and expecting twins both of which are already over 7 lbs as of her last ultrasound.

All in all the pregnancy is going well. I don't remember feeling this tired, sick, or sore with Devon but I also didn't have a Devon to chase the last time so who knows. I am quite honestly ready to be done with the pregnancy and finally meet this little girl.

No name as of yet but we do have some top contenders they are: Abigail (Abby), Teala, Madison or Madeline (Maddy). We won't decide until after she is born. Devon likes Miss Abigail or Teala the best so far (depending on which day you ask him).

Devon also likes baby sisters purple and green bedding and her soon to be new green walls, enough that he thinks they should be his (and so begins the sibling rivalry). He is very excited about baby sister and likes to come talk to her, poke her, and ask if she is bigger yet and ready to come out and play. In 10 weeks I'm sure he'll be ready to send her back but we'll see.

Dad is trying to finish up projects around the house so 10 weeks will fly by for him. Mom has lots to do but just wants the 10 weeks to be over. I know once she is here time will fly and I'll soon be wondering what happened to my baby girl and when did she grow up on me but so far I really am just tired of being pummeled from the inside out. Such is life!
