New Machine
So after agonizing for what seemed like months (oh wait it was months) I finally bought a new sewing machine last week. I went with a Brother even though I had originally been planning on getting a Janome, and I also spent more then I had originally planned too but so far I am happy. So this is my new machine a Brother Innov-is 80
And int the last week I have been able to finish a lot of little sewing projects. I know I shouldn't be surprised (and yet I still am) at how much faster a project goes when I don't have to fight my machine every step of the way and unpick half of what I sew to re-sew it again. I do much less unpicking now and all of the little problems I have run into have been user error so far. I am still playing it with it quite a bit so I'm not yet ready to give it a full review yet. Here are some pictures of things I've done so far.
Made 2 of these little dresses one for Abi & one for her little Mauery friend.
Table Runner. I bought this material when my sister was up in Sept and have finally gotten it sewn into something. Still needs a boarder of some sort but since it's a Fall runner I have some time.
I'm also working on a couple more Market Skirts which has turned into a good learning experience for this sleep deprived mommy.
Now I am just anxiously awaiting my material order to start on a 2 new skirts and a pair of jeans. Look for more soon.

Market Skirt
Okay so I have been itching to sew lately and I have a bunch of patterns I'd like to do. But I don't want to sew clothes for me until I have a new machine. So I decided to use up some of my cute scrapes and make a skirt for Abi instead.
This is the Market Skirt from MADE. This really was a quick project, maybe 5 hours for me, so I'm sure a more experienced seamstress could do it much faster. It did help that I already had scrape fabric and elastic on hand so I didn't need to add in a trip to the fabric store. I left off the pocket for now - just don't see Abi needing one for a while. I love the pictures in the tutorial showing the steps and I LOVE that it is FREE!
The only thing I'm not happy with is how the fabric is fraying at the seams. The tutorial shows serging the edges and I don't have a serger. I'm sure there is a way to zigzag the edge to keep fraying down but I haven't figured it out yet. Mostly made me want a serger on top of a new machine. Hmmm...now to plot a way to get one.
All in all it was and easy, fun, and restful skirt to make. I'm sure to be making a few more and I'm seriously considering making one for myself as the size adjustments are easy enough.

9 months old...
Yes Abi is already 9 months old. Wow how time flies when your sleep deprived. In the last month she has gone from being immobile to scooting to army crawl (our hardwood floors make regular crawling a bit had on little bodies - no traction). She is stubbornly still trying to get her knees involved in the moving process even though she can get anywhere she wants (and many places mom doesn't want) with the army crawl. Although sometimes I wonder if she is trying to crawl or just practicing yoga the girl does a perfect Downward Facing Dog and a might fine Sun Salutation both moves I can't seem to do quite right. She has also decided that pulling her self up to things is a good idea and I find her standing (holding on to something) quite often. She is ready to go and is just waiting for her body to catch up.
Also in the last month she got her 1st & 2nd tooth. That was a very long two weeks as she was very very fussy and slept worse then normal (and her normal is not really great).
She has also decided that in general she would rather feed herself and usually won't let me feed her any kind of baby food unless I have given her quite a bit of finger food before hand. This is both a blessing and a curse, but mostly a sign that we are quickly heading into the messy self feeding stage.
In general she is a wonderful happy baby and we can't imagine life without her.
Sorry the pictures are a couple weeks old I've been lax about taking pictures.
